I run small-group mountain bike skills clinics at Buzzard Butte on the Oregon Coast, drawing riders from across the Pacific Northwest. Real trails, real coaching, and a foundation that sticks long after the clinic ends.

Pick a date, show up ready to ride. I keep groups small so every rider gets real attention. All levels welcome.
Two full days at Buzzard Butte. Both days run 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Mornings are the important part — we build fundamentals: the hows, whens, and whys of body position, braking, vision, and cornering, and how to puzzle them together so you can handle anything the trail throws at you, from steeps to jumps. Afternoons we take it to the trail and put it into practice. Day 2 builds directly on day 1, and you'll leave armed with the tools, brain hacks, and drills to keep progressing long after the clinic ends.
Max 8 riders per clinic. No judgment, no rush.

Two days gives us enough time to actually break down bad habits and rebuild from the ground up — not just patch over them. We work through skills individually first, then puzzle them back together, rewiring how your brain processes the trail and laying a new foundation underneath your riding. That foundation is what keeps paying off long after the clinic ends and it's what lets you break through plateaus and keep progressing on your own, with confidence.
While shorter coaching sessions can offer some benefit, in my experience and observation, they generally don't offer that same deeper, longer-lasting value.
This isn't a cookie cutter clinic. It's a deep dive into how you ride and your bike set up. A lot of what I teach comes from my mentor, Gene Hamilton, who I learned from early in my pro DH racing career — he's coached alongside some of the world's greats, like Greg Minnaar and Cody Kelley.
All of the skills and foundation I teach are the same ones I rely on myself — whether I'm riding the gnarliest tech rock slabs at Tour De Gnar in Squamish, coaching Red Bull Rampage riders through the steepest ridges in Utah, racing around the world, or just ripping laps at the local bike park with total control and having fun.
I'm a USA Dh National Champion, and I've ridden at events like Tour De Gnar, Flat Out Days, and Freeride Fiesta. I'm PMBIA certified through Whistler Bike Park.
I've coached riders in Guatemala, Texas, California, Utah, Washington, and now right here on the Oregon Coast. My approach is the same everywhere I go: small groups, focused skills, and a no-ego environment.
2026 summer and Fall will be hosted just outside of Pacific City, Oregon, where we are building and riding the BUZZARD BUTTE MTB trail system — everything from green flow trails to gnarly loamers with steep root sections. It's a great place to learn and progress with surreal ocean views.

Buzzard Butte sits just outside Pacific City on the Oregon Coast — close enough for a weekend trip from most of the Pacific Northwest, with a beach town to land in when you're done riding. Here's roughly what the drive looks like from nearby hubs:
Drive times are estimates and vary with traffic and season — plenty of riders make a weekend of it, riding both clinic days and exploring the coast in between.

Yes — clinics at Buzzard Butte draw riders from across the Pacific Northwest, including Washington and Idaho, not just Oregon.
Plenty of Bend riders make the ~4 hour drive out for a weekend clinic — it's a different riding style than Central Oregon's high desert trails, and a good excuse for a coast trip while you're at it.
It's small-group, hands-on mountain bike coaching focused on fundamentals — body position, braking, vision, and cornering — run over a 2-day weekend format at Buzzard Butte.
